On the 10th Nov, SCS held its inaugural SCS Elegant High Tea event at the prestigious Capella Hotel. In conjunction with Channel 8, guests and contestants indulged in an afternoon of champagne and exquisite desserts during our “Sweet Culinary Sensations” workshop before the bake off. Bubbly Siau Jia Hui from YES933FM was the emcee for the day who ensured everyone had a really good time!
Of course the main highlight of the event was the bake off from our 5 pairs of teams who were selected to compete against each other! They had to replicate the delicious Fraiser Cake that Chef Sam of Capella Hotel did a live demonstration of. It was exciting and the teams had a deliciously challenging task ahead of them. They were needless to say full of concentration...even the cameras and judges did not faze them.
Of course what is a high tea event without some actual feasting on delectable sweets! During the break, all contestants and audience got to try exquisite desserts that were specially prepared by Capella Hotel, using SCS butter no less. Chef Sam also went on to teach everyone how to make the Iron Cast Cookie with Salted Caramel Sauce. That was literally a sweet gesture and mind blowingly delicous!
Then it was time to pick a winner and the 5 teams not only had 3 discerning judges (celebrated food bloggers, Ms Tam Chiak and MeatMen, including Chief Creative Officer of Auric Group, Ms Michelle Lim) to impress, the audience also had their chance to vote.
At the end of it, it was Philia and Xavier who eventually won the hearts of the audience and the judges with their rendition of the Fraiser Cake! Congratulations to the duo!
What made the ending sweeter, was that no one went home with an empty stomach and empty-handed. Every guest walked away with an exclusive SCS Baker's Kit worth SGD$128! Till next time, we hope SCS will continue to inspire you to become passionate chefs!
