Why SCS Butter Remains The No.1 Butter in Singapore for over 100 years!

Its not a surprise that the real secret behind a great pineapple tart is the butter! High-quality aromatic butter gives the pastry a rich flavour and plays an important role in getting the perfect melt-in-the-mouth texture.
But when it comes to which brand of butter is most ideal, we wonder if our allegiance to certain brands is based on actual facts or just simply hear-say and tradition. Can anyone really taste the difference between one pineapple tart from another?
To find out, we shortlisted three brands of butter available at the supermarkets and had a home baker make the pineapple tarts with the same recipe but the only difference is - the different brands of butter.
We conducted a blind butter taste test with over 300 participants, ages ranging from 14 to 80 years old. The participants were given three tarts each to try before rating which was their most favourite and which their least favourite in terms of aroma, colour, taste and texture of the pastry.
Majority of the participants (65%) felt that the best tarts were made using SCS butter! Brand B and C received 20% and 15% respectively.
